Get the combo sub, hot (toasted). This place is not a trend, it's a Chicago food staple. This business has been in the neighborhood for over thirty years. Never a bad experience. Excellent place for late nite eating.

Clean, quick, and delicious--what more could you ask for from a sub shop? This place came highly recommended by a friend, and it certainly lives up to the hype. Be sure to order the sandwiches with everything as they come. I usually skip the onions, but I'm glad I didn't here. My hoagie was perfect, with chewy bread, thinly sliced meat, and just the right amount of condiments, making every bite a delight. The interior is clean and has plenty of seating, though I didn't notice a bathroom, so keep that in mind.

So, I was tipped off by a friend about this hidden gem in Forest Park called Submarine Tender. They gave me some sage advice: order extra, toss it in the air fryer the next day. At first, I was like, "Really? A sub? In the air fryer?" Spoiler alert: GAME CHANGER. We went all in and ordered a corned beef super submarine (with the works, of course), garlic butter fries, and washed it all down with a fruit punch. The sub was packed like it was about to go to war, and trust me, it won. Each bite was a glorious symphony of flavors that slapped my taste buds into submission. The garlic butter fries? Yeah, let's just say they could probably end world hunger if we shared them--but why would I do that? Now, here's the deal: the space inside? Small. Think cozy... if cozy means rubbing elbows with the walls. Parking is limited, so bring your parallel parking A-game. And oh, there's no restroom inside--don't even think about hydrating too much before you get here! We were so excited to dig in, we ended up finding a local park, popped the trunk, and had ourselves an impromptu picnic on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Chicago summers, am I right? Fast forward to day two, I followed my friend's advice, popped that bad boy in the air fryer, and... WOW. It was like the sub had a spiritual awakening overnight. I work in the area and was craving a sandwich for lunch. I came across this place here on Yelp, and saw good reviews, so I figured why not try it? I got the club sandwich in the medium size (it had a different name but I can't remember). Sandwich was great, but definitely was a lot of oil on it, so maybe I'd ask for light oil next time. I waited no more than 5 minutes for my sandwich so that was good. Ambiance is not great.. definitely not updated or decorated in an aesthetically pleasing way, but that doesn't bother me as long as the food is good and it is clean. I'll definitely try it again since I am in the area!

Came in for some late night subs after a festival visiting Chicago. This place was right next to our Airbnb. I had the pastrami sub with everything, and they gave us some free fries while we waited. Everything was amazing and very fresh. The food came out very fast as well.

AMAZING FOOD! I've been coming here for over 20 years and they are still some of the best food in Chicago. Everyone I've brought has become regulars. People ask me where I got those BG fries, they need to get some of their own. I gave one less star because, even though they have remained solid on the food and prices, they need to consider ditching the styrofoam cups for drinks. But I get it, inflation is already killing us all and it's hard to remain a small business with fair prices.

You CAN go home again! This was our go to after party spot when I was just just a kiddo and the butter garlic fries are as good as I remembered.
